Kissia 20/05/2020This book was a disappointment. Big Time.
I really like this series' characters usually they are three-dimensional and multifaceted. The description still is true and that is the book's strong suit.
Another good thing that i pretty much like is the Elena e Raphael's relationship. It's very mature and health. Thank god!
However, Lijuan as the vilain is a joke, the narrative arc turned her in a travesty of good antagonist, it's laughable how one-dimensional she become. The villain is soooo powerful and evil, so godslike. BORING. A villain who pure evil and all powerful is very, very boring and nothing compeling at all.
A villain doesn't need to kill all the children in China to looks like a villain.
I like her part of the prophecy, though.
'Goddess of Nightmare. Wraith without a shadow. Rise, rise, rise into her Reign of Death'.
Unfortunately even in urban fantasy, prophecy are overused and outdated. I have to say again: boring.
I had to speed read all the chapter with Lijuan because was shameful. She had a evil laugh for f* sake!
Sadly, the author looks like that can't stop insisting in the queer baiting, i think they have great chemistry but if they are just friends stop hinting.
2.5 star for me.
