What a waste of time

No geral, com excessão da primeira metade do livro, a história era simplismente enfadonha e não levava a lugar nenhum.

Os últimos capítulos, no entanto, superaram o meu nível de tolerância para informações inúteis que um autor pode transmitir ao leitor pois ninguém quer ler dois ou mais capítulos falando sobre gnomos artesanais quando há tanto para se descobrir sobre o que se passou com Susie na sua fase adulta e como ela veio a se tornar a Miss Kaye.

No entanto, aquilo que fez com eu detestasse o livro com tanta intensidade foi o surgimento do filho da personagem já adulto.

O modo como Miss Kaye o recebeu em sua casa (fria), o modo como o tratou durante toda a vida, dando-lhe somente migalhas de carinho e reafirmando durante sua visita que não há espaço para mais ninguém na vida dela (sua vila de gnomos artesanais sendo excessão) é muito desprezível.

Como alguém que cresceu sem a mãe e com um pai ausente, anos de solidão e silêncio, ansiando por um abraço e conforto não trilha um caminho diferente diante da mesma situação?

O único ponto positiva a respeito da personagem é que ela optou por ter o filho mesmo tendo sendo sido vítima de um abuso - fato que também é revelado ao filho neste último encontro pois ele cresceu desconhecendo sua origem.
