Isabel Allende Llona
Isabel Allende nasceu em 2 de agosto de 1942, em Lima, no Peru, onde o seu pai diplomata se encontrava em trabalho. No entanto, a sua nacionalidade é chilena, tendo-se tornado cidadã norte-americana em 2003. É filha de Tomás Allende, funcionário diplomático e primo-irmão de Salvador Allende, e de Francisca Llona. A autora estudou Jornalismo, trabalhando como colunista e redatora, também escrevendo obras infantis e teatrais. No ano de 1962, casou-se com Miguel Frias, pai de seus dois filhos, Paula e Nicolás. Logo após o golpe militar que “derrubou” o presidente de esquerda Salvador Allende, seu tio, do poder, Isabel e sua família se mudaram para a cidade de Caracas, capital da Venezuela. É lá que se dá o pontapé de sua produção literária.
