Nathan von Wallenstein Weinstein
Nathanael West, pseudônimo de Nathan Wallenstein Weinstein, foi um escritor norte-americano. Nasceu em Nova York em 1903, filho de judeus imigrantes da Lituânia. É autor de The Dream Life of Balso Snell (1931), Miss Lonelyhearts (1933), A Cool Million (1934), The Day of the Locust (1939) e algumas peças teatrais. Sua obra é vista como uma resposta à Grande Depressão de 1929 e ao clima de decadência e desilusão que se seguiu nas décadas posteriores, tanto no sentido econômico quanto espiritual. Embora hoje seja considerado um dos grandes escritores norte-americanos do século XX, não obteve sucesso em vida e seus livros foram fracassos de venda. Terminou seus dias escrevendo roteiros de filmes.
