Adquiri esse livro sem saber do que se tratava, não sabia nem que era uma biografia e acho que foi uma das escolhas aleatórias mas bem sucedidas ate agora. O livro é uma biografia da vida de Effie Gray, escocesa do século 19, que ao fazer um mal casamento, luta para ser livre de novo. O livro é extremamente detalhado e através de pesquisas e cartas narra a tragetoria de Effie, seu primeiro marido o critico de arte Ruskin e seu segundo marido o grande pintor inglês John Everett Millais. O livro mostra a vida de uma mulher na sociedade da época e o começo de uma evolução feminista. Também podemos acompanhar a vida de um pintor através de Millais.
