Imprisoned by the Romanian Communists for his work in the Christian Underground, and subjected to medieval torture, Wurmbrand kept his faith—and strengthened it. Foi um pastor e escritor evangélico romeno, fundador da Missão A Voz dos Mártires, uma organização inter-denominacional cristã, dedicada a ajudar a igreja perseguida no mundo inteiro, fundada em 1967. Foi preso e torturado diversas vezes por serviços de inteligência soviéticos, passando 14 anos na prisão. Era um importante agente do Comintern, líder e coordenador pago diretamente por Moscou, assim como muitos outros comunistas romenos.
