Meredith Hall has a secret. Every night, she takes the ferry to meet Ben―her best friend and first love, who she has a second chance with. Though their dynamic has shifted, Mer's determined to make it work. She lost Ben once before and discovered the awful reality: she doesn’t know how to be happy without him. Until Wyatt washes ashore―a brash new guy with a Texas twang and a personality bigger than his home state. He makes her feel reckless, excited, and alive in ways that cut through her perpetual gloom. She tries to ignore her feelings, but she’s not immune to Wyatt’s charms. Slowly, they form a cautious friendship. But a storm is brewing in the Outer Banks. When it hits, Mer will find her heart tearing in half and her carefully constructed reality slipping back into the surf. She’ll soon discover that even the most deeply buried secrets have a way of surfacing, and as they do, she’ll have to come to grips with the fact that nothing is forever―especially second chances.

    Katherine Fleet

I’m an island girl. I grew up on a rugged, wind-swept island in the middle of the North Atlantic. Newfoundland is known for its distinct culture, extreme weather, wonderful storytellers, musicians and quirky sense of humor. For five years, I lived in the Canadian North, where I learned about skidoos, car battery warmers, the Northern Lights, and the long twilight days of summer. I used to work as an environmental scientist with secret dreams of being a writer, but in 2007 that all changed. My husband and I packed up our family and moved to the small island of Curaçao in the South Caribbean Sea. I now have time to write, bake, chauffeur my three amazing, talented kids around, and have sun-filled adventures with my wonderful friends. In 2012, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’m fine now, but the experience taught me to appreciate my health, my family and my friends. I’ve learned to pay attention to the things that really matter. I’m an active member of the Romance Writer’s of America, which is an amazing support network and community for writers. I am a member of several chapters including YARWA for young adult writers, RWA-WF for women’s fiction writers and the Outreach International chapter for writers in remote corners of the world. I write about unlikely heroines, first loves, secrets, family tragedies and happy endings. I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them.
