In the final book of this charming and funny illustrated POB series that’s perfect for fans of Invisible Emmie, star pitcher Gabby Garcia’s exciting eighth grade plans go sideways when her parents announce the family might move to Seattle. Everyone’s favorite pitcher, Gabby Garcia, has to figure out how to make the best of being benched in this third installment in Iva-Marie Palmer’s laugh-out-loud illustrated middle grade series full of doodles, sports trivia, and home-run humor! Gabby has gotten her team out of some tough jams on the mound, but when a freak accident temporarily takes her out of the game, she is at a total loss. Can Gabby still be Gabby if she’s benched from the action? None of it might matter, though, once she learns her family might move to another state. Gabby needs a game plan—and her playbook—more than ever!

    Iva-Marie Palmer

IVE-MARIE PALMER grew up in Chicago’s South Suburbs, and — despite her educators’ best efforts — she could never remember what Casimir Pulaski did to get a holiday until she researched it for her first book, THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT. Now she lives with her husband and son in Los Angeles, where there are no three-day weekends for Mr. Pulaski, but since there are also no -11 degree days (before wind chill), she makes do. She loves books, Disneyland, food sold off carts and trucks, John Hughes movies and Joss Whedon everything, books, old movie palaces, shiny shoes, crossword puzzles, drivers who do the little wave thing when you let them in your lane of traffic, vending machines that sell odd items (or just really good candy), books, non-life threatening adventures and roadside attractions. You can find her online on Facebook and Twitter (follow her @ivamarie) and right here. Come visit, and she’ll wish you a happy Casimir Pulaski Day.
