Drama comovente

Curto, mas um ótimo começo para as crônicas de Barsethsire! O drama sobre consciência, autoimagem e opinião pública é muito bem explorado por Trollope aqui. O romance pode ser um pouco complicado em alguns pontos sobre política e dinheiro da Igreja Anglicana, mas vale a pena. O conflito entre a personalidade pública e privada de Mr. Harding e sua luta por sua própria consciência é sensacional no livro, e mesmo o final não sendo muito positivo para ele superficialmente falando, deixa excelentes ganchos para o segundo livro.
