Civil Disobedience

Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau is one of the most important philosophical pieces of work man has ever seen. The main point of this piece of literature is man's right to refuse cooperating with government so as to not become a soldier of injustice for the standing government. "Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison", in this quote Thoreau tells the American people that "We should be men first and subjects later."

Civil Disobedience is a piece of literature that has taught the American people and people around the world that the way to defy the government is to refuse to cooperate with it. Not cooperating with the government is the only way to stop the injustice. Active resistance will not succeed because of the governments' size and strength. The only true form to stop injustice is by not cooperating with it.

Henry David Thoreau's Civil Disobedience has transcended time and space and is as relevant today as when it was written. I recommend this to any reader interested in the right of man to resist and to prove their individuality and strength. This piece of literature proves that man can stop injustice and government and can do what is right.
