In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Primeiro problema: Morganville não é o que parece. É o último lugar seguro para vampiros, e que a torna não muito seguro para os humanos que porventura trabalhem ou estudem. Os vampiros comandam a cidade... e todos os que vivem nela. O segundo problema de Claire é que ela tem inimigos tanto humanos e quanto vampiros.
