When a crew of explorers rescue scientist Victor Frankenstein from the North Pole, the story he tells them shocks them to the core. Why is Victor out in the cold? Where has he come from? Often cited as an early example of science fiction, Mary Shelley's classic work features elements of both the Gothic and the Romantic. It is a tale of science pushed to its limits, but left unchecked and unbalanced by morality and the laws of nature; themes that still resonate deeply today.
