Let's make an indicator with MetaTrader 5!

It's been eight years since MetaTrader 5 (MT5) was released, but it has not spread yet due to the lack of compatibility with MT4. For one time, I used to be a Japanese Forex company, but now I am not using it.

However, MT4 is no longer available for download from MetaQuartz. I also heard that minor updates have stopped. The possibility that MT4 will be abolished in the near future is gradually increasing. In order not to panic after that, let's prepare ahead of time to make our own MT5 indicator.

This book is written so that a trader who does not specialize in programming can write MT5 program (mql5) without knowledge of MT4 program (mql4). mql5 has many more features than mql4. Like the C++ language, you can also use the class library to create large projects. But traders do not need all such knowledge.

If it is a commonly used indicator, you can write it with limited tools. Therefore, the writing method of the indicator is limited to the minimum necessary contents. If you can completely master the contents of this book, I think it will be much easier to make the indicators needed for trading.

This book focuses on the tools used so that even beginners in programming can understand. Even so, I think that it is a little difficult for completely beginners, so I also explained the basic syntax such as if statement, for statement, switch statement.

This book is also written to help traders make their own indicators or to know the structure of the indicators that are standard in MT5.It is not possible to make, sell or distribute indicators. I do not expect. Therefore, I'm pretty bold in omitting error handling. For example, you need to handle error messages when you enter a negative number for the period of the moving average. However, I have omitted the indicator that I made, assuming that I would not do that kind of operation. In the case of an indicator, if there is an error, it will not be displayed, so it is not so harmful. In fact, there are quite a few MT5 standard indicators with error handling omitted. On the other hand, the Expert Advisor (EA), which is an automated trading program, involves payments, so errors can be fatal. I will explain it separately when making an EA.
