Shiver acabou com um suspense onde não tínhamos certeza se o Sam tinha realmente sobrevivido e sido curado. No Linger constatamos que a temperatura já não afeta mais a condição do Sam, porém ele está com dificuldades de acreditar nisso e com muitas dúvidas quanto ao seu futuro. Aqui temos quatro narradores: Sam, Grace, Cole e Isabelle.
