Ells94w 01/11/2023Nineteen claws and a black birdI really wanted to rate this book higher because when I read the first story my expectations skyrocketed.
"A light, swift and monstrous sound" hits all the marks by being creepy, a bit gory and immersive with its characters while still being a short story.
"Candy Pink" was SOOO long it couldn't even be considered a short story. It's told in the second person and in the imperative tone of voice. Being really fun and dramatic, it reminded me a lot of "Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", by Pedro Almodóvar, with its woman suffering after ending a relationship.
Another one that sparked a deeper interest was *Elena-Marie Sandoz". It felt like the story of a suicide told as if it was a murder.
Overall, the stories were good, some better than others, and some just unnecessary.
