bookish_ginger 29/07/2022Oh, God. Why, Diana?I was absolutely in love with the first book. It still is one of my favourites, but I have the feeling that Diana Gabaldon had no idea where she was going with Claire and Jamie... The story, book by book, sounds more and more dragging, nonsensical, pedantic.
I don't even find the characters likeable anymore and this last book has just added a few more boring people to the pot. I spent lots of money back at the time this series was THE THING and I now feel kinda obliged to read the other ones to make my money worth it... But God knows what a bloody sacrifice it is. Let's all be honest here: One conversation could have easily solved this plot's problem. ONE.
And the mere idea that the next one is almost 500 pages longer than this one makes me wanna cry. I'm actually laugh-crying right now, because I hate the fact that I have this obsession with closure and will put myself through the suffering of going through all the others as well.
Hope she can do better. I need her to do better.
