Dragon's Oath é uma novela da House of Night, então para ler é melhor conhecer essa série antes. E, é claro, depois do Despertada.

No início do século XIX na Inglaterra, muito antes de ser um professor na Morada da Noite de Tulsa, Bryan Lankford é um adolescente humano, filho de um nobre. Apesar de seu talento com a espada, ele só causa problemas. Seu pai, cansado das confusões de seu filho, o expulsa da família e do próprio país.

No porto marítimo Bryan é marcado como um vampiro e acaba optando ir para a Morada da Noite da América ao invés da Londres. Mas essa não é a sua única decisão, ele também escolhe um novo nome: Dragon. E um novo destino.

Em sua nova vida, Dragon Lankford torna-se um Mestre da Espada. Talentoso e atraente como é, não é a toa que já começa a roubar corações. Novatas (e novatos também!) começam a pedir para Anastasia, a jovem bela professora de encantamentos e rituais, para preparar poções de amor.

Anastasia, ciente do problema que Dragon está causando, decide fazer um encantamento o qual as pessoas enxergariam a verdade dentro dele e não apenas a sua beleza. Entretanto, no meio do ritual a jovem se depara com a pessoa menos esperada, Dragon. Inicia uma aversão, desenvolve sentimentos, e por fim, paixão.

Uma história de amor bonita e muito interessante, porém não chegaria a classificar como surpreendente. O amor deles aconteceu um pouco rápido demais, talvez se fosse de uma maneira mais natural e com mais cenas mostrando o desenvolvimento entre os dois seria mais gostoso de ler.

Considero a leitura deste livro obrigatória para todos os fãs da House of Night! Ele é uma peça importante da série. E além do mais existe um certo fato no final do livro o qual me deixou surpreendida. Só lendo para descobrir!
