Classic fantasy at its best
Classic fantasy at it's best. Gavriel's writing alone is enough reason to read this book. There's so much pain and beauty in his words that I couldn't help being involved by his tale, even though I'm not fond of all the choices and elements present. The structure reminded me a lot of Silmarillion, which Kay helped edit. There's a lot of background stories, myths and legends that make up the rich tapestry. As in Tolkien's Middle Earth here we find equivalent people: lios alfar (elves), dwarves, svart alfar (orc? goblins?), Dalrei (a tribute to Rohan, maybe), Loren Silvercloak (a shadow of Gandalf), and other possible parallels. The Unraveller is loose and and believe I'll be on board to find out who this classic good versus evil battle will unveil.
