Julian Patrick Barnes
Julian Barnes nasceu em Leicester, estudou em Londres e em Oxford e, antes de se dedicar exclusivamente à escrita, foi lexicógrafo (no Dicionário Oxford), editor e crítico de cinema. Entre os seus romances contam-se <i>Metroland</i>, a estreia, em 1980, <i>Uma História do Mundo em Dez Capítulos e Meio</i>, <i>Amor Etc</i> e <i>Artur & Jorge</i>. Considerado um dos mais relevantes escritores britânicos do nosso tempo, Julian Barnes é também autor de vários romances policiais, assinados por Dan Kavanagh. A sua obra está traduzida em trinta idiomas e recebeu, entre outros, os prémios Somerset Maugham, o Geoffrey Faber Memorial, o E.M. Forster, o Fémina, o Médicis e o Shakespeare, além de ter sido por três vezes finalista do Booker, que acabou por ganhar em 2011, com o romance <i>The Sense of an Ending</i>.
