É incrível como a Connilyn transporta o leitor para um momento histórico.

O romance é um slow burn clean e que narra a história de Moriyah, uma hebréia capturada por Cananeus para servir como escrava em um templo em Jericó.

Mesmo após o seu resgate e a chegada dos hebreus em Canaã, Moriyah continua sofrendo as repercussões de seu sequestro e prefere passar seus dias em casa.

No festival da colheita ela é incentivada por sua amiga Ora a participar das festividades e ali conhece Darek, um soldado do exército hebreu.

Tudo parece perfeito até que ela se vê envolvida em uma tragédia e Moriyah é forçada a fugir de Siló. Buscando segurança em uma das cidades levíticas de refúgio, ela está totalmente despreparada para os perigos que enfrentará e os inimigos - e aliados inesperados - que encontrará em seu caminho.

A forma como a autora desenvolve a narrativa dentro da cultura da época, os princípios religiosos e até mesmo personagens como Josué é incrível e deixa o leitor curioso para entender um pouco mais sobre esse momento histórico.
