Sharpe's Enemy

Sharpe had once been told: 'A Soldier is a man who fights for people who cannot fight for themselves.' ’Behind Sharpe, in the Gateway of God, were women who could not fight for themselves. Sharpe would go back. "The unstoppable Sharpe has been made Major by order of King George, but with promotion comes deadly responsibility. Heading the newly formed Rocket Troop has its own challenges - the rockets are neither safe nor accurate. On top of this Sharpe must rescue a group of vulnerable innocents - women being held for the pleasure of a band of British deserters.Their leader is Sharpe's bitter enemy, the malevolent Sergeant Hawkswill. Sharpe has very serious reasons for wanting Hawkswill to die a painful death, but he must put them aside and concentrate–the lives of thousands of Allied soldiers depend on it.
