A very ambitious and well-researched book. Learned a lot. It is confusing at times and does not necessarily follow a chronological structure making temporal jumps back and forth and from one subject to another, this does not prevent understanding though. Perhaps the scale of the work the author set out to do led to some themes being explored superficially and important details being lost.
