Virginia Woolf é uma das maiores escritoras inglesas do século XX e não é á toa. Em To The Lighthouse (Rumo ao Farol em português), acompanhamos a evolução de uma família em férias às vésperas da Primeira Guerra Mundial - é realmente interessante notar os paralelos que a autora faz entre as alianças e desavenças entre os membros familiares com o conflito citado, embora talvez seja preciso um certo conhecimento de História para isso.
