John Julius Norwich

John Julius Cooper, 2º Visconde Norwich CVO )Comendador da Real Ordem VItoriana), comumente conhecido como John Julius Norwich, foi um historiador, escritor e apresentador de televisão inglês, célebre por seus estudos sobre o Império Bizantino, sobre a história da Sicília e de Veneza.
Formou-se em francês e russo no New College, Oxford. Em 1952, ingressou no Serviço de Relações Exteriores nas embaixadas em Belgrado e Beirute e com a delegação britânica na Conferência de Desarmamento em Genebra. Em 1964, renunciou ao serviço para escrever. Suas muitas publicações incluem A History of Venice and Byzantium e o best-seller do New York Times Absolute Monarchs: A History of the Papacy.

John Julius Cooper, 2nd Viscount Norwich, CVO, known as John Julius Norwich, was an English popular historian, travel writer and television personality.
He took a degree in French and Russian at New College, Oxford. In 1952 he joined the Foreign Service at the embassies in Belgrade and Beirut and with the British delegation to the Disarmament Conference at Geneva. In 1964 he resigned from the service in order to write. His many publications include A History of Venice and Byzantium and the New York Times bestseller Absolute Monarchs: A History of the Papacy.
