Blackbird Fly

Momma always said I was a blackbird. She said anything I touched would die, but he’s still alive, and I can’t help but feel like I’ve marked him for death.

Tessa Daniels used to live the good life, but when she was thirteen her mother decided it was time to start living for herself and divorced from Tessa’s stepfather. Now she and her mother have swapped lives, and she’s left taking care of her little brother, and on really drunken nights, her alcoholic mother, as well.

Embarrassed by her life and the crappy single-wide trailer she lives in, Tessa doesn’t get close to anyone. Not to mention, she’s sure she’s cursed since everything she loves either dies or falls apart. Except Dixon Kline, the new next door neighbor, refuses to be pushed away, and Tessa can’t decide if her fear of ruining him is more powerful than her newly blossomed feelings. One night with Dixon would keep her for a lifetime, but not if it means walking away from her little brother or destroying the life of someone she loves.
