The word bitch conjures many images, but it is most often meant to describe an unpleasant woman. Even before its usage to mean "a female canine," bitch didn't refer to women at all--it originated as a gender-neutral word for "genitalia." Como profissional de ensino de língua inglesa, é sempre bom entrar em contato com livros que trazem essa perspectiva histórica do porquê o inglês é como é. Gostei muito de refletir sobre as reflexões de gênero em xingamentos e na percepção da fala, como estar associado ao “feminino” é sempre um crime, sendo possível estabelecer paralelos com a língua portuguesa. Recomendo demais a quem curte o estudo de línguas.... leia mais
