Time heals all wounds, right?
?There are people who find peace in forgiveness, and then there are others who look at forgiveness as a betrayal.?
I must say that rereading is one of the things I enjoy the most simply because it offers new insights into the whole book. It?s like this case of rereading; I fell in love the first time I read it and was able to fall in love all over again. This book brings such an intense perception of forgiveness, healing, and experiencing grief that is so real, so human, and so flawed that it becomes impossible not to be immersed in this story, it?s impossible not to cry when reading the last page.
Another thing that makes me really like this book is the way the author develops the characters in light of their mistakes and successes, it?s well-structured and leaves nothing open-ended. Kenna and Ledger captivated me from start to finish again; their story, happiness, pain, and motivation are something that will always impress me. Kenna?s strength is completely inspiring. A mother who couldn?t hold her daughter after birth, and the only thing keeping her going was the possibility of meeting her child. Her life was not easy, and even though she was unjustly treated, she never stopped believing that everything would be okay at some point. Of course, Ledger being a character written by a woman wouldn?t be a villain, I know that, but still, I see him as a good man, as rare as that may be, I believe it?s because of his upbringing - I just know I really like Ledger.
Here there?s no right or wrong, heroes or villains. A decision Kenna made in the past was enough to generate a lot of hurt and feelings for a range of people, including herself. Experiencing grief, forgiving, and healing is not easy, it?s painful, we see the ups and downs during this journey, that?s why I feel a strong embrace from this book, it?s human and shows all sides. We are of judgments, whether intentional or not, just as we have the free will to give people a second chance. So, here?s my recommendation for the second time, it?s a story that must be read.
