"I sit looking at his words, remembering that time in ours lives together - the girl I used to be ans the woman I am; the boy Joe was and the man he might be. I think about all that haa happened and all that will not happen, and I am still sad. But the sadness is not alone any more. There is a sense of hope mixed in, too - hope that Joe actually is happy. Hope that he really haa got the life he deserves. Hope that maybe one say, I will too. Perhaps even loneliness is transient."
