My second reading of Frankenstein
The first time I read it, in 2014, I quickly read it not only because it was part of my Extensive Reading task, but also because I was developing as a proficient reader. That said, I read it in four days along with Fogo Morto (Dead Fire) by José Lins do Rego. Such were my impressions of having read such a fine, written-shaped piece of art! I was wonder-struck. After reading and finally getting to make the acquaintance of Frankenstein, I became in love with its style and messages. What a greatly written novel Shelley wrote! I will proceed with my review, but, dear reader, if you haven't yet, I highly recommend you to read it as soon as you wish to possess what you so deeply seek in life to which your heart is so long bound. Please, read it. It also discloses about the dangers of incalculable pursuit.
This being said, I can now inform you of how it was to read it for the second time. It was amazing! Even better than the first time, even though this one time brought me to the knowledge of what the book contains. Although I had been doing it because of a new paper, hopefully my final one for this course, it really did not feel like I was being obliged to do it. It was so comfortable! I would do it again if I could, but time flies faster than wind or talk in these phone-days. Having read it now, I behold it differently from how I did when I first read it. All its language, issues dealt with, characters, circumstances, style, production and time of when it was published. It is like it all has been renewed to me. How honored I feel for having read such a great work of what human ambition can do towards oneself. I so enjoy reflexive texts and having revisited Frankenstein once more, I cannot ostracize its greatly mastery employed in its writing. How so well written are the classics! I wish I could do something similar to that.
So, as my impressions flourished, I live now in the after-reading stage, in which I need to deal with the fact that I read, reflected and production is the only way up. It is right ahead of me just waiting for my ability to show. The importance of a second reading is essentially that: noticing news things you had not been attentive to before and what you need to do after you read it. A during-reading stage is also considered, although not mentioned. It is as fundamental and the ones to which it is surrounded. I, then, suggest you to try it, not only read this one novel, but also read others for a second time, after a long time, so you can see what is new, what you recall, what has changed and which new insights into the aspects of the novel you could notice when second reading. Have I once said I recommend you to read Frankenstein? Thanks for reading. ;)
