I finished it! It was an extremely wonderful experience. A series for those who love mysteries, secret organizations and children's adventures. I must say, it may be a children's book, but there's no age limit to enjoy Lemony Snicket's work. It's impossible not to be drawn into his stories.
These narratives made me realize how much Lemony sacrificed to do what was right. It was evident his affection for Ellington, as well as his loyalty to his friends. He went his own way after resolving - almost - everyone's issues, and it's so unfair. Snicket's life was unfair. He did everything for the Volunteer Fire Department, yet it only brought pain and suffering. But what an impressive child he was! He's so similar to Klaus that it's painful to remember they never knew each other, he'd have been a great uncle figure to them.
I felt unintelligent throughout the series. I really didn't grasp the plot until the very end. It was SO CLEVER of Lemony Snicket to craft this ending! I would have never guessed such a resolution. I genuinely gasped when I discovered the mystery's solution... although it was resolved too quickly. I didn't like how abruptly the end came, it could have been more drawn out.
He asked the wrong questions all the time, but they didn't seem wrong at all, they were just questions that wouldn't lead anywhere. He was naive, a word which here means, he was a thirteen-year-old trying repeatedly to solve a problem while being sabotaged by the very people he wanted to help.
In conclusion, I've gotten to know a lot of characters from Lemony's life. Some were friends and family to him, some were something more but too clueless to realize it, and some were awful people. All of them underwent significant development, because that's what good writers do. It's more than a great book, it's part of an entire universe built by very talented hands. I wish there were a thousand more books where I could read about adventures and learn some expressions from an incredible bookworm. As far as I'm concerned, I'll have to read the entire series all over again then...
