Tory Lancaster, now a successful young woman, was abandoned as a child. The experience was so painful that she banished it from her memory and only recalls being jostled from foster home to foster home. As an adult she finds solace, love, and passion with Brett Hooker, but is unwilling to commit to a permanent relationship. Brett accepts Tory's appearances and disappearances, but becomes deeply worried when Tory experiences frightening nightmares that she can't recall when she wakes.
