EU CHOREI QUE NEM UMA DESGRAÇADA PARECE QUE MATARAM UM ANIMAL NA MINHA FRENTE [*****]. Esse livro foi extremamente necessário e valioso. Não fala só de uma história de amor entre duas mulheres, fala também de auto-descoberta e auto-aceitação. Dói muito o que as pessoas que viviam no século XX nos EUA sofriam, não só por serem LGBT mas também negros. Esse livro falou bastante sobre racismo e tive muita empatia pela Elizabeth pois ela foi ensinada desde criança que negros eram pessoas ruins e lgbts não eram naturais. Porém, após conhecer Ariel e ter a presença da sua avó Nam, ela não foi só ensinada a respeitar as pessoas como também a amar quem ela quiser. Esse livro traz uma mensagem muito linda e eu realmente me emocionei, o Club Storyville e muitos outros foram um ato de resistência contra leis que obrigavam as pessoas a se esconderem e viver sob omissão, agradeço que em meio a tanto ódio ainda tinha lugares onde as pessoas se sentiam seguras, mesmo correndo riscos de vida elas ainda tinham coragem de visitar clubes como esse e ser quem eram, mesmo que na rua não pudessem. esse livro se tornou um dos meus favoritos.
