Se não quiser passar por uma baita ressaca literária, fique longe deste livro!

A superabundância de personagens irrelevantes e rapidamente esquecíveis torna "Meu Primeiro Americano" uma leitura maçante. Cenas extensas e desnecessárias poderiam ter sido suprimidas, resultando num romance mais conciso e coeso. A narrativa arrastada gera a sensação de estagnação, com pouca progressão significativa. Diálogos incoerentes, falas desconcertantes, personagens antipáticos e humor de mau gosto comprometem a obra. A meu ver, Lore Segal falhou ao conceber esta narrativa como romance.
