Beneath é um livro interessante: ele tem tudo pra ser uma história rasa e clichê, com personagens aleatórios e feitos para mover a narrativa e/ou morrerem dramaticamente, mas o que ocorre aqui é bem diferente, ainda bem.

Mas escrever sobre isso é o problema: esse é o tipo de livro que spoilers tiram muito do impacto das descobertas, então mesmo qualquer outro comentário além do que tem na sinopse já seria injusto com o leitor e com a história, então vou tentar não focar no enredo aqui.

Mesmo com seus mais de sessenta livros, Jeremy Robinson é um autor meio desconhecido no Brasil, tanto que ele não tem nenhuma obra traduzida para o português; mas se tem uma coisa que ele faz bem, é escrever sobre monstros. De doenças alienígenas a monstros gigantes, passando por planetas inteiramente vivos e perigosos, até criaturas mitológicas e mutantes grotescos e perigosos também, suas obras são sempre um espetáculo de destruição e adrenalina, rivalizando muitos filmes do gênero, e o que ele traz nesse livro não é diferente.

Ele pega várias fórmulas comuns nesse tipo de obra, como o cientista arrogante que faz besteira, o herói misógino que acha que sabe tudo, a personagem feminina completamente irrelevante (tô falando de você com esses clichês, Crichton) e os vira de cabeça pra baixo, com resultados fantásticos!

Então se você gosta de uma ficção científica mais leve, com muito caos e monstruosidades e personagens surpreendentemente interessantes, recomendo muito a leitura.
