O começo da trilogia Jedi Academy de Kevin J Anderson, o livro se passa pouco tempo após os eventos de Empire's End, apesar da HQ ter sido lançada depois, mas aqui já vemos as consequências do retorno do imperador e o terceiro filho de Han e Leia, Anakin.

Essa trilogia não é uma das minhas favoritas, mas é uma boa leitura e bem importante pra saga. Nesse primeiro livro ainda não vemos a Academia Jedi em si, mas Luke vai atrás de pessoas sensitivas a força para treinar como Jedi, após dar um discurso sobre a importância dos Jedi para a República. Han e Chewie vão em uma missão pra Kessel e acabam presos, lá encontram um personagem muito importante para essa trilogia e para os livros seguintes, Kyp Durron. No geral nós não vemos os personagens reunidos por muito tempo e cada um tem um plot próprio. Aqui conhecemos uma das vilãs principais da trilogia também, almirante Daala e a instalação secreta do Império no aglomerado de buracos negros perto de Kessel, e descobrimos sobre a nova arma do Império, a Sun Crusher.
