Caught in the crossfire are NTAC agents Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris. His son, Kyle, and her thirteen-year-old adopted daughter, Maia, are both more loyal to Jordan's movement than to them. And when the standoff between Collier and the U.S. military explodes into open conflict, Tom, Diana, and fellow agents wind up outnumbered and outgunned.

In the end, the fate of all mankind will rest in the hands of one man: Tom Baldwin.

Um ótimo livro com um péssimo final

Uma narrativa rápida e empolgante, me fez ler capítulo após capítulo tensa e ansiosa enquanto muitas vezes chorava ou prendia a respiração.

Mas então chegam os últimos capítulos, após a bomba e o fim do ataque na Terra Prometida e, em vez de concluir a história, os autores nos "presenteiam" com um romance que nunca teve razão de ser, um final nonsense para a Cassie (com uma explicação ainda pior para por que ela agia daquele jeito) e mais algumas perguntas que jamais serão respondidas.

Não que eu esperasse o felizes para sempre, mas o conflito introduzido no último capítulo foi mais que desnecessário, além de mais outras questões menores que podiam ter sido concluídas. Parece que os autores queriam deixar um ganchinho de segurança para o caso de resolverem escrever mais (o que não aconteceu até agora, quase 4 anos após esse livro). Uma pena.
