Alexis Gun, a sixteen-year-old girl with an inoperable brain tumor, finds herself living in a nursing home while counting down the days. Alexis' only saving grace comes in the form of a somewhat optimistic, one-legged boy, named Jonah, who also happens to be her roommate. The despairing misfits are bonded by misfortune, their love of punk rock music, and the fact that they are probably the only residents at St. Michael's nursing home who don't own stock in denture glue or share an unhealthy penchant for butterscotch candy. They may be down on their luck, but they have each other, and more importantly, they have the pact. Will the pair meet their prickly end in operation death by cactus, or will they opt for something a little more avant-garde, like fashion suicide? For Alexis and Jonah--life is about death, but what if life surprised them and offered up a second chance?
