Mary Norton
Mary Norton nasceu em 1903, em Londres, e foi criada em uma casa em Bedfordshire, que se tornou o cenário para Os Borrowers. É uma escritora infantil conhecida por criar os "Borrowers", pequeninos seres de aproximadamente 6 polegadas (15 cm) que vivem secretamente sob o assoalho de casas e pegam "emprestado" os objetos que precisarem. Inicialmente publicado em 1952, Os Borrowers foi um sucesso imediato, conquistando o prêmio Library Association’s Carnegie Medal. Quatro novas aventuras se seguiram: Os Borrowers na terra (1955), Os Borrowers na água (1959), Os Borrowers no ar (1961), Os Borrowers em apuros (1982) e Pobre Inocente: a história de um Borrower, a última história sobre os Borrowers que Mary Norton escreveu. Mary Norton faleceu em 1992, em Hartland, no condado de Devon, Inglaterra.
