É formada em inglês (com distinção) pela universidade Rutgers. Após trabalhar como bibliotecária e editora em um jornal, iniciou sua carreira de escritora. Faz parte de diversas associações literárias, como The Class of 2K11, The KidLit Authors Club, The Elevensies e The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Atualmente, divide seu tempo entre escrever seus livros, fazer projetos free- lance e cuidar dos três gatos e do cachorro hiperativo que tem em casa, em Nova Jersey.
