Para quem gosta desse gênero e está acostumado com grandes reviravoltas ao longo da trama, o ritmo de Restos Mortais pode parecer um pouco arrastado e até entediante. Mas eu particularmente prefiro o modo como Cornwell desenvolve a história, construindo a tensão aos poucos à medida que a investigação do crime em questão avança. Não acho que esse é um dos melhores livros dela, mas fiquei presa à narrativa até o final, pois a autora consegue manter constante o andamento do enredo.
