A classic since 1962, Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time is sophisticated in concept yet warm in tone, with mystery and love coursing through its pages. Meg's shattering yet ultimately freeing discovery that her father is not omnipotent provides a satisfying coming-of-age element. Meg Murray, her little brother Charles Wallace, and their mother are having a midnight snack on a dark and stormy night when an unearthly stranger appears at their door. He claims to have been blown off course, and goes on to tell them that there is such a thing as a "tesseract," which, if you didn't know, is a wrinkle in time.

Meg's father had been experimenting with time-travel when he suddenly disappeared. Will Meg, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin outwit the forces of evil as they search through space for their father?

Livro infantil que mistura fantasia e sci-fi.

O pai da Meg, personagem principal, desapareceu há quatro anos, o que causa muita fofoca e especulação no bairro em que mora. Ela é irmã de um menino prodígio que a leva, num certo dia, para conhecer a Sra.Whatsit, uma espécie de bruxa do bem, que diz saber onde o pai deles está. A partir disso que começa a aventura das crianças em outros planetas, colocando pitadas de ficção cientifica e explicando, por exemplo, o que seria uma quinta dimensão (e tenho que confessar que essa explicação me ajudou a entender um pouquinho melhor o (incrível) filme Interestelar).

O começo é extremamente chato, só ficando interessante mesmo lá para o meio, quando eles chegam ao planeta Camazotz, onde as pessoas são praticamente robôs e agem todos da mesma forma. Deu pra entender a crítica da autora sobre uma sociedade que não pensa e que é altamente influenciável pelos seus governantes, que no caso desta história, é um cérebro gigantesco que fica no meio de uma sala chamado It.

It estabelece algumas diretrizes: uma sociedade boa é uma que se submete; a diferença cria problemas; o lema a ser seguido é “alike and equal”. E é aí que entra a Meg, para questionar isso tudo.

Achei uma leitura arrastada em certas partes, e a chatice da protagonista não ajudou muito, mas o tema central é ótimo para fazer o leitor (jovem a princípio, mas para os adultos também, por que não?) pensar.
