Biomimicry

Toda a tecnologia da modernidade e também as grandes descobertas e insights de todos os tempos vêm da intuição que a autora chamou "biomimicry", que é um tipo de observação e imitação da natureza adaptada às necessidades humanas, ou seja: compreender os processos naturais nos bichos e nas plantas (que é próprio das ciências biológicas) e traduzir tal conhecimento em ferramentas e serviços úteis à sociedade (que é o papel da tecnologia). De certa forma, a ideia não é nova uma vez que o próprio método científico surgiu da observação atenta dos fenómenos naturais e acompanhou o ser humano desde os primórdios da existência, ainda que de forma rudimentar. Na atualidade, a biomimética ampliou o campo de atuação e criou um refinamento maior de análises com base no aumento da automação e das novas formas de sociedade.
