This book is a treasure! It has information about Indian religious/spiritual sculpture from both the philosophical and technical angles. It is a feast for the mind and for the eyes. If you ever wanted to know the significance of the form of deities and how they are sculpted, this book is a must read. I give it four stars because it does not contain all the forms I would have liked to see. It also does not explain many attributes of some deities. I guess if you are into more mainstream Indian religious sculpture, then this book would be sufficient. The author comes from a family of traditional Indian artists, so he knows exactly what he is talking about. Art students would find this book very helpful when looking for ideas etc. The price is a bit steep though.
