Vou dizer isso repetidamente, este livro merece mais hype!
A primeira coisa que você nota no livro são as frases concisas, curtas e simples usadas estilisticamente para evocar a voz de Saba. O livro é escrito gramaticalmente errado, tudo está escrito foneticamente, o que dará a muitas pessoas motivos para parar ou ficar bem confuso no começo. Mas você se acostuma muito rapidamente e as palavras voam depois disso. “LUGH GOT BORN FIRST. ON MIDWINTER DAY WHEN THE SUN hangs low in the sky. Then me. Two hours later. That pretty much says it all. Lugh goes first, always first, an I follow on behind. An that's fine. That's right. That's how it's meant to be.” Tudo sobre este livro é rápido. Você Saba na busca para encontrar seu irmão (Lugh), depois sua captura e subsequente luta para escapar do emprisionamento (cage fight), e então o confronto final. A segunda metade do livro não foi tão emocionante quanto a primeira parte, mas mantém a tensão e a diversão da primeira. “I weep fer the girl with the butterfly on her cheek. I weep fer Emmi. Fer Pa. Fer Lugh. Fer me. Fer what we used to be. Fer what got took from us. Fer what's lost to us ferever.” Por outro lado, Saba pode ser bastante trabalhosa. Ela é muito m egoísta em certos momentos, e muitas vezes você quer puxar o cabelo de frustração. O jeito que ela trata a Elmo (sua irmã) chega a ser bastante cruel às vezes. Gostei que a autora tentou retratar toda a síndrome do primogênito onde a criança se sente ameaçada pelo aparecimento de outro irmão para roubar toda a atenção dos pais o que leva a brigas e confrontos entre irmãos, porém podemos ver o crescimento de Saba conforme você lê, você pode ver como a atitude dela em relação a Emmi começa a mudar e o relacionamento delas a evoluir. O romance era bem clichê em relação a todo o aspecto do colar, mas não sendo esfregado na sua cara kkkkk foi bem sútil e não estragou a a trama do livro e eles tiveram algumas cenas legais de beijo na maior parte. “Ever heard of the rule of three? he shouts as we run. No! If you save somebody's life three times, their life belongs to you. You saved my life today, that makes once. Save it twice more an I'm all yers. I'll jest hafta make sure that don't happen, I says.” O que sempre me intrigou foi o DeMalo, eu nunca cheguei a terminar a trilogia pra saber, mas eu acho que ele tem alguma conexão com a Saba. É um livro com muita ação e divertido de ler, em partes. Eu não classificaria isso como distopia; Eu li isso mais como ficção pós-apocalíptica do que qualquer outra coisa. “Move fast, travel light an never tell 'em yer real name, Jack says.” Já é a terceira vez que eu releio e continuo a adorar. A tristeza é nunca ter saído notícias sobre o filme que iriam fazer do livro.
