John Edward Williams
John Edward Williams foi um escritor norte-americano, nascido em Clarksville no Texas, em 1922. Serviu a aeronáutica de seu país durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, sendo enviado a países distantes como Índia e Myanmar. Ao retornar da Guerra, foi beneficiado com a G.I. Bill (lei que compensava veteranos da guerra) que permitiu seu ingresso na faculdade em Denver e na Universidade do Missouri. Leccionou na Universidade de Denver por vários anos, publicou romances e escreveu poesia. Suas obras mais conhecidas são Stoner (1965) e Augustus (1973), seus terceiro e quarto romances respectivamente. Conseguiu grande reconhecimento em 1973, ao vencer o prestigiado National Book Award.
