Phillipa Gregory é uma mestra em ficção história. Adoro como ela escreve sobre períodos históricos do ponto de vista das mulheres marcantes da época, mesmo que poucas delas sejam de fato lembradas hoje, dando a elas voz e tornando-as protagonistas em uma época em que apenas os homens tinham esse direito. Como resultado, ela transforma esses personagens históricos em pessoas reais na mente do leitor, criando uma narrativa envolvente. Gosto muito que ela envolveu, principalmente na história da Jaquetta, a mãe da Rainha Elizabeth, a Rainha Branca do primeiro livro, um pouco de misticismo relacionado á sua suposta ancestralidade. Criou uma atmosfera mais mística e introduziu elementos interessantes na narrativa. Meu único problema com a autora é que os livros são bem grandinhos, e ela é BEM descritiva, o que torna o ritmo bem lento - pouca coisa acontece de fato durante 50 páginas por vez, os capítulos são extensos...isso compromete um pouco a fluidez da leitura e sempre me atrapalha. The Lady of The Rivers foi até agora um dos meus favoritos dessa série, só perdendo para o primeiro, The White Queen, que vai contar a história de sua filha mais velha, Elizabeth, que se casa com o rei Edward de York. Pretendo continuar com a série, principalmente por que quero chegar no The White Princess, que vai seguir após o término de The White Queen com a filha da Elizabeth, mas com certeza não será por agora!
