Shi-Woon Yi is a first-year student at Nine Arts Dragon High School, a victim of constant bullying. When he meets the school's new teacher, Chun-Woo Han, his life changes as he discovers that Chun-Woo Han is a member of the secret martial arts society called Murim. After much persistence, Chun-Woo eventually accepts Shi-Woon as his disciple. However, both Chun-Woo and Shi-Woon soon discover numerous physical complications that makes physical training impossible. It's with the arrival of the new school nurse, Shi-Ho Lee, that Shi-Woon finds a solution to his condition. Shi-Ho is actually an acquaintance of Chun-Woo and fellow member of the Murim society who offers Shi-Woon Il-Wol-Shin-Dan (일월신단) pills. With them, Shi-Woon overcomes his handicaps and realizes his potential. However, he must now dedicate himself to proper training, otherwise he would die from overexertion – a side effect of the Il-Wol-Shin-Dan.
