Wrath & Righteousness foi propagandeado como "'Left Behind' meets '24'" (o primeiro é uma série de livros apocalípticos escritos por dois pastores evangélicos, carregados de biblicismo, e o segundo é o seriado apocalíptico moderno do Jack Bauer) e como a série que vai tirar horas de sono de quem a ler. A primeira propaganda é perfeitamente aceitável e, com alguma sorte, a segunda, no futuro, poderá também ser.

A idéia desta série é boa: escreva uma boa história, um thriller com elementos recentíssimos da geopolítica (como um Irã quase-atômico e uma Primavera Árabe super-'democrática' que resulta em novas teocracias totalitárias); calque o livro com os bons e velhos valores dos EUA dos glory old days - liberdade individual e política, hard work, família, religião; adicione personagens que concordam com esses valores, outros que não, e permita-os digladiarem-se moral e belicosamente. Velha fórmula. Porém, eis a boa idéia: inclua uma nova camada na trama - a etérea. A luta de valores é diretamente influenciada por eventos do além : Lúcifer e seus discípulos maquinam para levar a humanidade de volta aos caos, através das ações dos fracos e corrompidos. Resta a uma pequena parcela de justos salvar a humanidade. Convenhamos, Lúcifer dirigindo uma bomba atômica dos países dos aiatolás é um belo de um mote para um thriller.

O primeiro livro da série é interessante. Os personagens são bem apresentados - com exceção dos vilões do outro mundo, bastante caricatos, às vezes ao ponto do ridículo - e a história flui, sem o uso de nenhum dos truques baratos de livros do gênero, como aqueles capítulos que apresentam novas cenas e personagens em situações bizonhas e não explicam do que se trata. Porém, não é lá grande coisa. Alguns diálogos surpreendentes e o não-uso de maniqueísmo tacanho, que poderia ser esperado, são pontos fortes. Deixa, porém, a promessa para melhores cenas para os próximos episódios. We hope.
