I should have asked the question "How could someone who was missing be in two places at once?" Instead, I asked the wrong question -- four wrong questions, more or less. This is the account of the second. In the fading town of Stain'd-by-the-Sea, young apprentice Lemony Snicket has a new case to solve when he and his chaperone are hired to find a missing girl. Is the girl a runaway? Or was she kidnapped? Was she seen last at the grocery store? Or could she have stopped at the diner? Is it really any of your business? These are All The Wrong Question

40 (2024) the world is a puzzle n we cannot solve it alone.

FROM: LM FILE UNDER: LS-Readings, VFD. 2/4 cc: CSCh9 "It was a puzzle, a dark and lonely one, and if I were a piece in this puzzle, I did not know where I belonged. I needed to put myself aside, just for a little while, until I saw where I might fit in." I read this one swiftly, thoroughly enjoying every part of the story. My opinion remains unchanged from the first book, the development is excellent, the writing is ethereal, and it has its own identity (most authors can't do this the way he does). The Lemony Snicket Series are always great, I fear I will finish All The Wrong Questions Series too quickly, but I can't resist, it's astonishing. The plots were highly unpredictable, and I was caught by surprise many times. I don't usually enjoy kidnapping storylines, but it was more about the mystery than all the drama and fuss that usually bothers me. Regarding the characters, Ellington is truly something, it's a pity we know almost nothing about her. Moxie is kind and incredibly brave, I always appreciate journalist characters. Ms. S. continues to be annoying and pretty useless. While I liked every page, her dialogues were the worst. I'm still frustrated with Mr. Poe, and she seems like a virus variant of him. Well... Lemony mentioned Kit Snicket, and now I'm thinking about how incredible it would be if Daniel Handler started writing from her point of view. I guess we'll never see that, but it's still a great, awesome idea, albeit very unlikely to happen. As I said, I had a great time reading "When Did You See Her Last?". It's a stunning story, Lemony's books were my library serendipity, a word which means a happy accident. It really feels like I'm reading ASOUE all over again with different characters, other mysteries and a lot of wrong questions - that I certainly love.
