Matilda is a little girl who is far too good to be true. At age five-and-a-half she's knocking off double-digit multiplication problems and blitz-reading Dickens. Fortunately for Matilda, she has the inner resources to deal with such annoyances: astonishing intelligence, saintly patience, and an innate predilection for revenge.She warms up with some practical jokes aimed at her hapless parents, but the true test comes when she rallies in defense of her teacher, the sweet Miss Honey, against the diabolical Trunchbull. There is never any doubt that Matilda will carry the day. Even so, this wonderful story is far from predictable. Roald Dahl, while keeping the plot moving imaginatively, also has an unerring ear for emotional truth. The reader cares about Matilda because in addition to all her other gifts, she has real feelings.

Nostálgico

Assim como boa parte das crianças da minha época, eu assisti o filme "Matilda" na sessão da tarde inúmeras vezes. Como tenho um carinho enorme por histórias infantis, resolvi me aventurar pela narritida de Dahl mais uma vez, e foi incrivelmente doce e nostálgico.

Matilda era uma menina prodígio que tinha um amor por leitura e matemática, era doce, gentil e autossuficiente - afinal, seus pais eram extremamente negligentes e abusivos -, com isso ela foi descobrindo as maravilhas que os livros podem proporcionar, se transportando para um mundo totalmente diferente.

Com a chegada da época escolar, ela conhece a professora Srta. Mel, uma pessoa amável e compreensiva, assim como também conhece a Sra. Taurino, a ditadora ou melhor, diretora da escola.

Com a fofura e a graça de uma escrita simples e acessível para o público infantil, vamos nos encantando com as aventuras de Matilda e suas peripécias. No fim, me deixou com uma sensação de perda, afinal, relembrar a infância através de um livro é muito especial.
